Original Solitaire Rules
Definitions
- The game board is 9×9.
- The deck contains 81 cards, each numbered from 1 to 9.
- The board is divided by bold lines into 9 houses (3×3 squares) and by thin lines into rows and columns.
Goal
Fill the entire board while following the Sudoku Rule:
No house, row, or column may contain two cards with the same number.
How to play
Turn order
- Move a card already placed on the board or select a new card.
- Place the new card on the board.
- Move previously placed cards, resolve conflicts, then end your turn and draw a new card from the deck.
Selecting a card
- Clicking a card activates it (its background changes color).
- A newly drawn active card is highlighted in red.
- An already placed active card is highlighted in yellow.
Placing and moving cards
- With an active card selected, click on any cell to place it there.
- You may also click on a cell that already has a card. In that case, the two cards swap places, and the previously placed card becomes active.
Conflicts
- You cannot place two cards with the same number in one house. The game will not allow it.
- You cannot place two cards with the same number in one row or column. If this happens, the numbers of the conflicting cards turn red.
You cannot finish your turn or draw a new card while at least one unresolved conflict remains on the board.
Ending a turn
After placing a new card and resolving all conflicts, you can press Next to draw another card from the deck.
Resolving conflicts
- Select one of the conflicting cards and move it to another cell in order to respect the Sudoku Rule.
- You may resolve the conflict manually, or press Solve, and the game will do it for you.
Conflict resolution algorithm
- Handle issues as they arise.
- Always resolve one problem at a time.
- Always choose the simplest possible solution.
Even easier
After placing at least one card on the board, you can press Auto and let the game place the remaining cards for you.
You will only need to position the last three cards yourself.
Logos Cards
- One side of each Logos card shows numbers (1 to 9).
- The other side shows associative images:
- 27 basic storylines,
- 27 archetypal characters,
- 27 objects and natural phenomena.
When you select a card already placed on the board, you can press Flip to view its image.
By flipping cards during the game (Storytelling Mode), you can reflect on the dynamics of your life and discover connections between events.
Game over
- After filling the entire board, press Next. You will receive a text passage from the Book of Changes and an image of one Logos card corresponding to your layout.
- If you simply want to exit and start over, you can choose End Game.
